Band Aid

Just wanted to alert EVERYONE (not just UK) to how much their money is needed. UK residents, get to HMV, buy it; others download it (see bottom). Here are 10 reasons to buy it (taken from the official site):

10 reasons to buy Band Aid:

1. For the poor, the hungry, the sick and mute, the weak and tired, the beaten down and trod upon, the innocent and the dying.

2. Because 50% of Africans are children and most of them will go to bed hungry tonight and that is intolerable.

3. Because more people will die of hunger in Africa this year then war, aids, malaria, TB and polio combined.

4. Because it?s a bit of pop history, it?s not a bad recorded and an ok tune, and four generations of musicians of all styles got together because this makes them ashamed and sick.

5. Because 20 years after we sang for change, it?s changed for the worse.

6. Because when you buy it, you will keep someone alive.

7. Because on the day you die, there is someone alive in Africa because you bought this record and that is ridiculous.

8. Because Christmas is a time for thinking of others and giving gifts to those we love.

9. Because in a world of plenty and surplus none should die of want and hunger.

10. Because 20 years ago, we understood that you cannot put a band aid, a sticking plaster, on the gaping wound of hunger and poverty. That this, in the end, is a political wound that can?t be healed by pop singers and the people who buy their records. They can help to stop innocence dying and to focus attention, but it is the politician?s job to fix, not ours. 20 years ago we demanded change. Buy this record because when you buy it, it becomes a political demand that next year when Tony Blair meets the worlds? seven richest leaders in Britain on the anniversary week of Live Aid in July, they know that millions of us bought this song to demand, finally, that people do not go to bed hungry tonight or any night again, that people stop dying of hunger in Africa every year, that people stop dying on our television screens every night forever.

I spent ages typing that from Band Aid?s flash site. I agree with it all, bar point number 10 ? ?it is the politicians job to change Africa?s situation?. It is the world?s job. Everyone. We can save millions of lives. Please buy Band Aid; download it from www.bandaid20.org.

"We must become the change we want to see in the world" (Mahatma Gandhi)

Here is my own statement:
"kids are dying every day because selfish gits wont even give a little to help them... imagine if it was your child, your brother... if you don't buy this record it is like looking a starving child in the face and not giving him a slice of bread when you have a whole loaf... would you do that?"
