---------- Patch Mesh Bending

Hello guys,

I am following Nemesis's Tut for patch meshes. It said to press control-B and align the three dots like in his photo (width-ways) accross my 256 by 768 patch mesh that will be a bend in a road. When I try to do this my road gets horribly twisted all kinds of ways? What am i missing? Any Ideas?

Thanks

never, ever bend a flat patch with ctrl B imo. Press V, and drag the vertices about instead. Just play about, you'll soon get the hang of it, and be able to get any shape ya want

Thanks

You sure can create some pretty cool shaped faces thsi way!

Ok,

U just have one other question for you then.

After you make a bent road, how do you make a brush fit perfectly against the bend, especially odd bends (like my 45 degree bend)????

yea..if your not zoomed in your bend will just take off on ya...but if you zoom in it will work nicely and move only in small increments..but as MJ said..moving the vertices is far better and less stressful (once you get the hang of it)

I don't mean add a texture to it. I mean to put another brush next to it, beside the road, how do i get the exact same curve?

to match a bend...hit S to bring up Surface Properties...then hit the NATURAL button!

hit spacebar to copy the brush..then rotate it to your liking

Ok, Thanks

One other question then.

What if you want to re-shape one mesh, how do you select only one of the paired verticies?

O, and how do you get a screenshot from Radiant?

Thanks

u'd just have to remember where the vertices which shall touch the other brush were. than put the corresponding vertices of the adjacent patch there and u ought to be fine. U can set some little temporary brushes to remember the positions. Like below, the 'yellow' points are where vertices of both patches lie.

Just select one mesh  they aren't 'paired', they just share their position

while in radiant, press the print button on ur keyboard. start a new image in dunno-what-u-use and paste it in.

[quote="_rc_combat_rocks_"]Hey again,

I've beem sick for a few days but now I'm back to mapping. :o)

In my map I still cant get my patch meshes perfectly lined up. The bigger (left) mesh has more faces, so only 1/2 of the points on the curve line up.

Here are a couple of pictures.

Oh, and I know how to select a vertical column of vertices at once (shift) is there any way to select a whole row?

Just thought.... Could I make the right mesh a 6x6 vertices to make it work?

Pictures.....

EDIT: Can't figure out how to post pictures. I used the buttons at top. I'll keep working on how to add them.
EDIT2: Does it matter ifmeshed overlap? What if they have the same texture?

just hold the left mouse and drag over the row of vertcies you want

Holding shift when you select a vertice will select that row keep holding it and click on the vertice again and it will select that columb . Holding the control key when seletecting vertices will allow you selelect more vertices without deselecting the ones already selected . I think holding control when draging the left mouse button to form the blue box will also not deselect the verts already selected .
