Best 5 custom moh:aa maps?

Post by Bjarne BZR »

In relation to this thred we would like to hear your top 5 moh:aa maps.
And by this we do mean best, not the ones you play the most ( because many of the best maps have sad rotation rate ).

So please post a list of your top 5 custom maps, and for each, give us:

- The name of the map (naturally).
- The perfered game mode ( TDM/OBJ/LIB/CTF... as many maps are available in multiple modes ).
- A link for downloading the map ( if you have it, if not I'm sure it is obtainable ).

OK, here goes my list:
  • My favourite one - BOB_Carentan! :P - quite underestimated but really cool. :P Objective.
  • For really CLOSE-quarters battle - Ydiss's Crossfire Courtyard (you'd better not play it with more than 4 people :P). TDM or FFA.
  • Wacko's Dorf (I'm sure he can post a link :) ) - TDM/FFA.
  • Battle of the Bulge - Ardennes - great firefights, 4-16 people, usable Flak 88s 8-) - TDM.
There's a whole load of maps at http://users.pandora.be/tomheylen/downloads.htm - go and try some of them out. 8-)

Grabstatte: more a cool map than a competition one.
Team temple: Quake 3 Arena conveted map, seriously fun to play.
Eagles Nest very sniper-oriented, and bad FPS if you have a slower compouter, but very fun.
Schplatzburg: very fun map, losts of hiding spots and good FPS.
OpCenter!:one of the best non-stock maps made i think.

The Canal

I believe the map was created by Flying Sheep and scripted by Bjarne. If I'm mistaken please correct me on this.

Edit by Bjarne: You are more or less correct. Flying Sheep made a DM version, and I redesigned it to boost VIS and make an OBJ and LIB version.

When I sat down to make my list: I realized 2 things:

1) There are a lot of maps for mohaa.
2) So very few of them are completed.

So making a list was a lot harder than I could ever imagine... but here goes:

1 - The Canal, v1.3, OBJ
2 - Stalingrad1943 v1.2, OBJ
3 - Pipeline, v1.3, OBJ
4 - Aftermath revised, DM ( or actually... any of Voxels maps )
5 - Containerz, DM... or is there an OBJ version?

i would like to keep this DM if possible... obj are fun, but peole get confused easily and dont know where the bombs/papers are.

btw if it comes to a poll, i vote Voxel's maps.

WATTEN!!!

But im biased.

Actually never really played DM at all. Too many things about that game mod drove me crazy. All of the great maps i played were OBJ maps.

As for top 5 thats tough. I havent been playing really and dont recall so many of the custom maps we played.

I'd say we should make one DM pack and one OBJ.

Ok hit the way back machine:

Stali 43 OBJ version remake. (this is not a shameless plug our team really liked that map, I was the last one to admit it but its fun great frames nice feel.)
Watten (seriously was a good map i thought)
Crossfire Courtyard (bit of everything and good feal with great frames)
I could name about 30 other maps here that are tied. If i was given an abc choice thing and rank em possibly.
