Push-City-Hall Help!

Hey Everyone,
I'm new here,
But it looks like I found the right place,
I own a PC Gaming Center in Missouri, and MOHAA is probably the most played game here.
And with that, most enjoyment is found through OBJECTIVE maps, particularly "Push-City-Hall",
It's a blast, if you havent played it; it's not your typical CTF that everyone has modded out there now.
there are 3 stationary flags that have to be captured and points are accumelated over time.
We've PLAYED this MAP into the Ground,
What I'd like to know is, How can I implement this style of gameplay into ANY map?
Because this is a map that's from the Single player game.
I just don't know how I could go about doing this.
Please Help,
Thank You,
Shane

Hi there,
I think you've come to the right place but your question would be better off in the Scripting forum. I haven't played that map but the name does sound familiar. If it's a map from the single player game then they have edited the map's script file in a clever way. Almost all maps have a script (.scr) file that controls certain events, objectives or other settings like when the round will end and who will win the round if certain conditions are met. Or just like Fungus said, a script runs all of the activities in Moh. I'm not exactly a talented scripter myself but I think it's save to say that it won't be easy to turn a single player map into a bug-free objective or ctf map.
I would suggest opening the map's pk3 file and extract the .scr file which can be opened with notepad/wordpad to see how it was done. If you haven't seen script files before it will probably not make much sense but it won't hurt either. You can also always post the whole script in the scripting forum and ask away.
I don't know 'mefy' but if the map's .pk3 has a readme file in it maybe he has left his email in there?

Alright,
Now I'm getting somewhere.
Well what I want to do is turn "Multi-player" maps into this form of CTF.
But "Pushcity Hall" was made from a single player map.
Also, I opened the README file, and it was Written by: Ben "glitch" Munroe.
Tried emailing him, but email was undeliverable.
I've opened the pk3 file in wordpad, and at the bottom , yes, it
has all kinds of info on TEXTURES, and MAP, and FLAG stuff,
so, I think I'm getting warm,
I'd just want to put this on top of a multi player map, sounds easy enough huh? hahaha
Should I maybe send this pk3 to someone???
can I post it here? how?

You can adapt the script from that map to work for any multi-player map easily enough. Just look for the .scr file associated with that map in the pk3. It's a custom pk3, so you shouldn't have trouble locating it.

The CTF mod I wrote isn't like Push City Hall one. You don't capture points-- instead you carry the flag from point A to B.

Wow you guys are a great help, thank you!
I'm pretty pumped about making this work, because all of the guys that come to play in my shop are always up for playing Push city, they're just a little burned on the map by now.
I've located the pk3 file.
I've looked at the pk3 file with word, but Now I just have to find a way to modifiy the pk3 file,

If they are playing in your shop, why not use some custom maps? DLing them should not be an issue.

hehe, although u're far from what u want with this information, I recommend opening the pk3 with winzip

In fact it's a zip file. Inside, u will find all the stuff the map needs. For example, the script file(s), with extension *.scr. These u can open with notepad
For more information, I'd read some of the tutorials and, well, start mapping...

Ohhh We've done quite alot of Customs,
It's just that they all love Push City, and the CTF style of gameplay, and they all have voiced that "wouldnt it be cool to have those flags in other maps", so that's why I'm looking to do that.
Are you saying it would be easier to do on Custom maps???

Sure! The author of the map probably still has the source file (*.map) and can add whatever u like (if he wants to

)
