Sunflare not visible

Post by Superdoc »

Hi Guys, I'm new to the Mapping, i'm currently using mohradiant to build maps & MBuilder to compile them. I was just creating a simple map as im a beginner and one of my friend sniperwolf is helping me, i found this forum that might help me, i've created 1 roof 4 walls & Floor, lights on 4 end of the walls..i've added Caulk texture to all the walls, roof and floor and mohday1 texture from the inside to the walls, i wanted to use sunflare so i pressed "n" and in the worldspawn i put this "suncolor 60 60 60" sundirection "-60 90 0" & "sunflarename sun" saved it after i compiled the map and i run it in the game.. i dont see any sunflare and the map is pitch black without light. Its been bugging me since yesterday :( i dont know how to find the right angle for the sunflare or the textures, i hope u can help me resolve this problem.

suncolor 60 60 60
sundirection -60 90 0
sunflarename sun

suncolor, sundirection, and sunflarename all go in the top box.

60 60 60, -60 90 0, and sun go into the lower box.

it should be ....... key suncolor... hit tab value 60 60 60 hit enter. This is done while your brush is selected of course. Deselect and compile.

For light to be everywhere, select a brush, hit "N", in top box type ambientlight .... in the bottom box type something like 60 60 60, and hit enter, deselect, compile

.map

Open the .map file for your map with Notepad or Wordpad. You will see it is a text file and you can add some/all of those worldspawn lines that bdbodger posted.

These are from the South France map (mohdm1).

{
"lightmapdensity" "16"
"message" "South France"
"sundiffuse" "1.3"
"overbright" "all"
"classname" "worldspawn"
"sunlight" "255 243 171"
"sundirection" "320 150 0"
"sunflare" "-7980 5388 3396"
"suncolor" "65 60 45"
"ambientlight" "7.5 7.5 7.5"
// brush 0

etc...

Ambientlight is what you need to add.

An entire brush, not just the inside of it. The sky, the wall, the floor, any brush...... although, I think if you do it to a detail brush, it won't work. You probably haven't converted any brushed to that yet, so I wouldn't worry..... just pick any brush. shift left click or control left click. Whatever one selects the an entire brush.

i think ther is something wrong with the brush, just download this .map and try to compile it and plz tell me if ur able to see the sunflare, and also...according to the sky box..if i throw a nade it should vanish but its rebouncing back when i hit it on the sky, or maybe my radiant tool preferences needs some changes. http://www.hellracers.org/sun-flare.zip

Hey Doc,

I check your map out & I can see your skybox & my grenades disappear off the map when thrown at the skybox. I had a problem with a black sky after I reformatted my PC. Try this link it might help:

but the case is...this is not mine..someone else created it...he had both .bsp & .map, the original .bsp size that i downloaded is 88.8kb and it was working fine, but when i used my Radiant tool to open the .map and went to "bsp--->selected bsp_BSP, bsp_vis & bsp_light" the bsp that was created in the folder is 86.6, this is very strange, i didn't do anything change but the size is less than the original .bsp, and whenever i do this, it is not working as proper sky-box, let me give u both the bsp's and the one i used from radiant. http://www.hellracers.org/sun-flare.zip see this it is having differences. I have a feeling my Radiant tools is not properly configured. I forgot to mention im using textures from some MOHAA Stock maps that i downloaded from somewher not the original ones in the MOHAA.

that allied error seems like u have some custom pk3 files (skins) in ur main folder....remove all ur custom files temporarily then try to compile and see what u get....also dont use the radiant to compile but use mbuilder instead and for the reason of u getting the loadportals error is because u have a leak in ur map....go to file then scroll down to pointfile and it will show u a red line to ur leak......hopefully this will help u out man
