Improving FPS

Post by mauriciod »

Hi everyone.

This forum is awesome.
I searched a lot about mapping and just found something worth reading here, congrats everyone.

I'm kinda of new on mapping, but i've already done a little one for DM and tested it. Now i'm trying to make an OBJ one but i'm getting low FPS (20~30) and i shouldn't because i've a GT9400 512mb.

I think it has something related to area portal ( ) but i'm not sure about how we should use it, why this is important and how to determinate if my map needs one in order to get better FPS rate.

Can someone explain it as if i were... stupid, please?

I wound up with a low FPS on my first map to. Targeted VIS may help you, but if you have a lot of open space it might be a daunting task to fix. Before you start your next map, I highly recommend reading this to set you on the path to high FPS
